September 9th 7.30 pm – Martyn Beaufort – Murders in Minchinhampton

Minchinhampton is quiet now, apart from the odd cow, but in the 18th and 19th century it was far from such.

This talk includes hangings, dissections and brandings, and explains the Murder Act 1752. Included are Shenanigans at The Crown, Minchinhampton, the Box Baby Basin murder of 1857, and more…

The talk is slightly over the hour, but hopefully it’s not going to send anyone to sleep!

Martyn has just finished a book on Gloucestershire Murders 1839-64, which he hopes will be published soon.

October 14th 7.30 pm – Tony Conder – Battlefield County – castles, battles and riots over 2000 years

November 11th 7.30 pm – John Putley – Get orf moy land! – the history of farming in Gloucestershire

December 9th –  Jack Boskett Photographer
Jack will give us another selection of his professional photographs
Topic to be decided
