On Sunday 16th August, twenty five of our members enjoyed a summer trip to Tewkesbury. We started with a very interesting history walk around the old lanes in the town with local guides Geoff and Steve. They proved to be excellent guides with a deep knowledge of the history of the buildings and people of the town.
We had a break for lunch, after which we visited the Abbey. We were taken on a tour by guides Tracy and Carolyn, who gave us a good overview of the story of the Abbey and its incumbents.
Finally we returned home on the coach having learned much more about Tewkesbury. Well worth a visit!

Stonehouse History Group members and our guides gathered under one of the ancient trees in the grounds of Tewkesbury Abbey.
