Benjamin Dooley Parkin (1879-1962).
Captain B D Parkin was one of the most influential men of Stonehouse during the first part of the 20th century. He was Headmaster of the council school from 1911 - 1939 with an interruption for the first world war, and Chairman of the Parish Council 1922 Apr-Dec, 1931-1937 & 1941-1946.
During the First World War he served in the Army was promoted to Captain and wrote a diary of his times. By the time of the second world war he was Chief A R P warden for the whole of the Stroud and Nailsworth district. (Area eight).
