Aerial Views of Stonehouse

This is a very nice photograph of Stonehouse and Ryeford in the 1930s. You can see Ryeford canal bridge in the bottom middle of the photo and Ryeford house to the right (Wycliffe Junior School).  Wycliffe Memorial bridge can also be seen crossing the Ryeford Road, (bottom right corner) this was built in 1935.

If you look close you can see a couple of canal barges high and dry in Ryeford field. The Stonehouse Brickworks with the 202 foot chimney is clearly seen in the upper right. The old Nailsworth Railway can also be clearly seen winding its way to the left.

This photograph (circa 1960s) is an aerial view of Gordon’s Garage looking towards Ebley, the garage forecourt can be seen full of cars for sale.
